Hello, my name is April Evans. I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for 15 years and together we have three beautiful girls, ages 13, 8 and 3…which means there’s never a dull moment in my house. I grew up in Minnesota, and moved to Jacksonville in 2007 to escape the frozen tundra and be closer to family.
I have always had a passion to help others, especially after the passing of my father when I was a small child. I knew back then the importance of family and a supportive network of close friends. Relationships are what enrich lives, which is what propelled me to pursue a degree in marriage and family therapy.
I mostly work with women and couples. Specifically, I specialize helping women overcome stress and anxiety. I help couples recover from infidelity, improve conflict resolution and find connection again in their marriage or relationship. I also specialize in interracial relationships.
If you’re struggling in life to find balance, feel anxious and overwhelmed, and need a sounding board, I provide a safe and comfortable environment where positive change can take place. If you’re not sure if your relationship can survive if things don’t change, I’d love to help get you in a better spot. You don’t have to keep living this way. Change can happen, and things can be better!
I attended Saint Cloud State University in Minnesota where I achieved my Bachelor of Science Degree with an emphasis in Applied Psychology. I recently completed a Masters of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University. I continue to receive education on effective, research- based methods in couples therapy such as John Gottman and Sue Johnson in efforts to provide the best service to my clients.
In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family, watching movies, reading and volunteering at my local church.
NOTE: April Evans is acquiring hours to obtain full licensure with the state of Florida, and is under supervision provided by Dr. Tabitha Johnson. Sessions may be recorded for training purposes.
