What You Can Expect:
Unparalleled Support
To enhance your clinical development, we offer an unparalleled collaborative and supportive environment. Unlike many other sites, every week we invest hours and hours of time and energy into our students. We ensure you are well-trained before you ever see your first client, and that you can confidently help your clients accomplish their clinical goals throughout treatment.
Each week, you are provided clinical supervision from a licensed supervisor, followed by coaching from a licensed therapist to help you further develop your counseling skills. If you need more support, other team members are ready and willing to meet with you to help you succeed. You also have access to a vast online training and resource library.
Vast Clinical Experience
As part of your internship, you’ll have the opportunity to work with couples, individuals, and families. You’ll learn how to treat a variety of clinical issues, such as anxiety, depression, physical and emotional intimacy, communication, conflict, addiction, work/life balance, self-esteem, and infidelity.
We recognize that as a student, you are learning and developing as a clinician – and we are willing to meet you where you are and provide developmentally appropriate feedback and support. In addition, everyone learns differently. As such, you’ll receive feedback and coaching in a variety of ways. We utilize examples, role plays, and group skill sessions, and provide feedback that’s written, verbal, and data-driven.

We spend countless hours investing in our master’s student interns. As a result, we believe students who complete our internship program are among the most well-trained graduating students in the industry.
It’s our desire to hire, train, and promote from within. While we can’t guarantee employment after graduation, many of our students who complete our internships are offered an opportunity to continue their career with FTAJ as a registered intern and beyond. We offer ongoing opportunities for career development, as well as mentorship and coaching to encourage personal and professional growth.
