Adriana Smith – Therapist in Jacksonville, FL

Hi! I’m Adriana Smith. Although I spent my childhood in Washington, DC and Pennsylvania, once an adult it didn’t take long before I grew tired of the snow and relocated to sunny Florida. I’m thrilled to be living in beautiful Jacksonville, Florida.
Having worked professionally in the horse industry for over 30 years, I have seen the powerful impact that animals can have on mental health. The mental growth I saw in my clients inspired me to further my education in clinical mental health counseling. I have relished learning how to put my teaching and relationship-building skills to use in a new way.
I am passionate about helping others become better versions of themselves and love celebrating even the smallest milestones on the way to success. I believe that each individual has value, and that includes you! I am excited to work and collaborate with you, to help you experience positive change in your life and relationships.
Who I can help
Individuals: If you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, boundaries, assertiveness, relationship problems, identity, work/life balance, infidelity recovery, recovery from trauma such as emotional, physical or sexual abuse, or first responder/military trauma using EMDR, I can help you understand how your past connects to your present.
Couples: Are you struggling to connect? I can help you find better ways to communicate, fight fair, and feel more romance and passion again. If emotional or physical infidelity occurred, I can help you work together to recover and heal yourselves and the relationship. I can help you with these points like premarital, infidelity recovery, communication, conflict resolution, and physical and emotional intimacy concerns.
Parents: If you’re struggling with parenting or your children are causing problems in your romantic relationship, I’d love to help. Being a parent has its tough moments, but certain situations can add even more stress, such as dating after children, blending a step-family, or if your child suffers from behavioral or social challenges. If you’re at your wits end with parenting your child, or you’re experiencing relationship distress with your partner, you don’t have to manage it alone. I can help you reconnect to your mate, offer strategies for parenting, and help you experience more peace.
Adolescents: I help teens and pre-teens struggling with anxiety, depression, social interactions, break-ups, bullying, or adapting to changing family situations (parents’ separation, divorce, blended family, etc.).
I am so excited to be a part of the amazing team at Family Therapy Associates of Jacksonville and even more excited to help you and your relationships.
