Biography:
My love of reading and writing turned into a degree in English Literature from the University of Central Florida. During my undergrad years at UCF, I tutored athletes on the football team and women’s basketball team. I also worked as a student in the campus Career Resource Center helping students write resumes and encouraging them to connect with potential employers at career fairs. Helping and teaching became a passion leading toward my teaching career. I used my education and natural talents to work with children and families. It was over the course of my teaching career that I gained insight into the results of varying parenting styles, successful family routines, and persistent patterns of communication which could either build up or cause damage. Seeing the need of families, couples, and children, I decided to add to my life experience and career expertise, the knowledge and skill set I would have as a licensed mental health practitioner to be more impactful.
I am in the process of completing my Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health through Grand Canyon University. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and am honored and delighted to have joined Family Therapy Associates of Jacksonville as a student intern.
When I have a few moments to myself, I still enjoy reading, kayaking, and any activity that brings me closer to my children, friends, and extended family.
