Hi, I’m Ida Holem! From the time I was a little girl all I ever wanted was to be a wife and mommy. However, I found my first passion in helping and self-improvement professions. I became interested in helping people improve their physical health and completed degrees in athletic training and exercise science. After working as an athletic trainer and teacher for 10 years, I wanted to help people in a deeper, more meaningful way. So, I quit my salaried job and pursued my passion of helping people improve their mental health; specifically, helping women and adolescents regain their voice in life, and people struggling with their relationships. In the midst of all these life transitions, I met and married the man of my dreams.
Specialties
During my time spent at Family Therapy Associates and training in the area of couples and family therapy, I have found my passion in helping a few specific groups of people: women, adolescents, and couples.
If you’re struggling in your relationship or marriage, I’d like to help. I have guided many couples through the process of getting back on track to a more positive and rewarding relationship. Using evidence-based practices, including work from Sue Johnson and John Gottman, two of the leading researchers in our field, I help couples experience reconnection and greater intimacy. If faith or spirituality is important to you, I enjoy incorporating those beliefs into the therapy process as well.
Women, if you’re ready to love yourself, find your voice, and feel empowered, I’d love to help you. My aim is to help each and every woman and adolescent love themselves for exactly who they are, free of shame, free of comparison, and free to be themselves. Learn how to find and maintain healthy self-love, so you can experience healthy, thriving friendships and romantic relationships.
Also, I have a passion and successfully have helped numerous adolescents and young adults, to help them feel empowered and encourage them to have a voice in their lives and relationships. I also guide them to create healthy boundaries in their lives and relationship so they can experience a balanced life and sound relationships.
Do you want the counseling process to be fun? Naturally, you make your own decisions for your life and relationships (and that won’t change when you begin therapy), and not every topic or decision is an easy one to address. However, if you enjoy humor and a direct approach, I can provide support and guidance to help you improve and reach your goals. I look forward to working with you!
